Hiking hut to hut in Switzerland is an absolute treat, especially when you are in an authentic region that serves up incredible cheese and whiskey! We love this region because it's authentically Swiss, and not overcrowded or overtouristed like so many other regions in Switzerland are. Many of the huts on this route offer private room accommodation, and the region has a high concentration of charming mountain huts, making lunch and cake stops a welcome indulgence.
We first scouted this route because there is an incredible whiskey program in the region (more on that later), but were thrilled to find so much more. Here are a few of our favorite things about the trek: the views, the diversity of the hiking experience and of the huts, a stay at the most famous hut in Switzerland, the cheese, the whiskey, the cute cows, the hospitality of the huts, private rooms at the huts, lakes to swim in, and the accessibility of the region.
We offer several different itineraries in this region. Our full itineraries, the 8-day Standard Itinerary, the 6-day Active Itinerary, and the 8-day Swiss Whiskey Trek cover more distance, and venture into a high alpine region that has some exposure and spice. All of the exposed sections have cables to hold onto for additional security and specialized gear is not required.
If that's not for you, then our Hut to Hut Light itineraries, the 6-day Relaxed Itinerary and the 6-day Luggage Transfer Itinerary, skip that alpine section, and stay in mellow terrain and on great trails.
For all itineraries, the hiking is generally more difficult than it looks on paper, due to the steep terrain in the region.

This 8-day itinerary is our recommended itinerary with the best distribution of days. It provides enough time to soak in everything that the region has to offer. This itinerary travels through alpine terrain and has some exposure.

Relaxed Itinerary
This 6-day itinerary is the easiest itinerary we offer in the region. The days are well-distributed, it avoids challenging terrain, and the difficulty level is lower than most of our tours. While the itinerary skips some of the alpine terrain, hikers will still experience high doses of Swiss charm and incredible views.

This 6-day itinerary is focused on maximizing opportunities for luggage transfer. However, there is still one night in the itinerary where luggage transfer is not available. If luggage transfer is not a priority for you, then we recommend our 6-day Relaxed itinerary, which is a better distributed itinerary. Both of these itineraries avoid challenging terrain.
